Our Board
FOR AUTHORS
Peer review process
(IJUTM) is a peer-reviewed journal. Manuscripts should impart novel findings addressing significant questions in Unani and other fields of traditional medicine, and should not be published or considered for publication elsewhere. After an initial review by our editorial board, all articles will be sent out for review by external reviewers. The acceptance criteria are the quality and originality of the research and its significance to our readership.
Publication Ethics
Publication ethics and malpractice statement
Authors are expected to maintain the ethical standards and conduct that remain mandatory in scholarly publishing. During the submission, authors need to state that their work has not been submitted elsewhere.
Guidelines for Authors
- All authorships should be decided and agreed upon prior to submission of the manuscript, and the written consent of the corresponding author is a must. The responsibility for obtaining the consent of other co-authors will lie with the corresponding author. By giving the consent of the corresponding author, it will be assumed that the corresponding author has obtained the consent of all the contributing authors on his own.
- Tables in limited numbers should be submitted with the captions placed above. Do not submit tables as photographs. Each table should be typed on a separate sheet of paper. Tables should be provided with headings, kept as simple as possible, and referred to in the text as "Table 1". Place explanatory matters in footnotes, not in the heading.
- Figures (including photographic prints, line drawings on strong white or transparent paper, and maps) should be in limited numbers and numbered accordingly. Graphs and diagrams should be large enough to permit reduction to a required size; legends for figures should be listed accordingly on a separate sheet of paper. Photograph quality should be standard and clear. The captions should be placed below.
- Bibliographical reference should be listed in an alphabetical order of the author at the end of the paper. Authors should be cited in the text only by their surnames, but their initials should be shown in the bibliography. References to the journal should include the name(s) and initial(s) of the author(s), year of publication, title of book, journal, title of the article, volume number (Arabic numerals), issue number where appropriate, and first and last page numbers. References to books should include the names and initials of the authors, the year of publication, the exact title, the names of the publisher, the place of publication, and the page number. Reference should be cited in the text in parentheses by the name(s) of the author(s) followed by the year of publication, e.g., "(Jain)," except when the author’s name is part of the sentence, e.g., "Jain (1991) has reported that. If there are more than two authors, it is in order to put "et al." After the first name, e.g., Khan et al., 1981.
- Abbreviations and symbols must be in standard form. Avoid using them in the title and abstract. The full term for which an abbreviation stands should precede its first use in the text unless it is a standard unit of measurement.
- Acknowledgement of all the contributors in the research works whether individual or organization having any kind of support from planning till reporting stage is necessary.Authors must use inclusive language in their manuscripts especially in gender background.
Responsibilities of Author
Reporting standards
Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate kind of work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable.
Originality and Plagiarism
The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if they have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted. Plagiarism takes many forms, from ‘passing off’ another’s paper as the author’s own paper to copying or paraphrasing substantial parts of another’s paper (without attribution) to claiming results from research conducted by others. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
An author should not, in general, publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.
Acknowledgment of Sources:
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work. Information obtained privately, such as in conversation, correspondence, or discussion with third parties, must not be used or reported without explicit, written permission from the source. Information obtained in the course of confidential services, such as refereeing manuscripts or grant applications, must not be used without the explicit written permission of the author of the work involved in these services.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest:
All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, as submissions may be returned to authors who do not adhere to these guidelines.
The submission should not have been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (an explanation may be provided in Comments to the Editor).
